The making of this project has been an obedience and faith walk. I have been a record producer since 1987 and this recording was my 100th project as well as being the first project to feature me as the main artist. I have always thought of myself as a behind the scenes person. Now I am in front singing and directing a crowd of extremely talented singers and musicians that are singing my songs. What an experience. It is available on all digital media outlets. iTunes, Amazon and CDBaby. Check it out. It’s affordable at $10.
Our Amazing God was recorded on May 5th, 2013 on a Sunday morning at The Potter’s House Church in Columbus Ohio. We recorded the whole recording twice. Once in the 9am service and again in the 11am service. The 9am recording was safe and we recorded two additional songs that didn’t make the final CD.
The previous night (Saturday) we did a run through rehearsal and recording and we did it twice to make sure that all the instruments were getting to the recorders. By the way, the recording was done by The Vanguard Group who also records Israel Houghton and William McDowell, Chris Tomlin, Vickie Winans and many others. You can check out their discography here (Vanguard Recording). During the process, I blew out my voice. It felt like I had swallowed glass and I was absolutely nervous about Sunday.
I called everyone around and they prayed over my voice and the Spirit of God came and touched my throat. The pain stopped immediately.
All I needed next was a lot of silence, water and a great night’s sleep. That was not the case. At 3:00 am The Lord woke me up and started talking to me and showing me a version of the recording where He stepped in the room and began to move. That prayer time stretched to 4:40 am and I had to get up at 6:00 am to be ready for church. Needless to say, all of that happened and flash forward into the 11:00 am recording about 30 minutes at the end of the song “He is My Peace” and I felt The Lord move me and I simply sang “You are Holy Lord….” Immediately I panicked! Why you ask? That was not a song that we had practiced or was even written! I had shared the idea with Matt Hines (my keyboard player) months before but we had never worked on it at all. We were going FREE STYLE NOW! But then after I said “You are righteous Lord” I felt the power of God flow over me heavily and from there on for the next 30 minutes we were just flowing in the Spirit. It turned out to be so powerful that we stuck completely with the 11:00 am recording. I never went back and listened to the 9:00 am recording… still haven’t. The rest of the story will be continued in another blog… stay tuned!
This is the third single release from the artist Daryl Wicker & The Potter’s House Choir. This was the opening song on the live recording of “Our Amazing God”.
The live recording “Our Amazing God” is available on all digital media outlets. iTunes, Amazon.com, CDBaby.com & GooglePlay.
No… really…. I’m waiting… 🙂
If you have a very large desktop setting you will see a great 3d image space that I created just for this web site. If you can’t see it.
Out on the edges are the words “Music”, “Art”, “Food” and “Life”. These are the major topics I will cover on this web site. Part of the art portion will cover my great love for creating 3D art. Ever since computers became a huge part of the art world (mid 80’s for me), I have always had some sort of 3d modeling program and have created many dream house ideas. I will get over the fact that some are just not good and post them here for people to see. Keep your eyes open.
The program I’m using now is called Blender. This is a screen shot of what it looks like. The top right picture window is the camera view. The top left window is a close up of that same view. The bottom large window is the current rendering of the whole scene. Pretty tech huh?
Feel free to post any questions or comments about this art. I would love it.
If this is something you didn’t know about me, post your comments as well. Thanks
